Paloma Martínez-Lage is a Partner at Martínez Lage, Allendesalazar & Brokelmann. She joined the firm in 2000.
She specialises in Spanish and EU Competition Law. Her practice covers cartel investigations and leniency requests, cases of abuse of dominant position and merger filings, with a particular specialisation in sectors such as telecommunications and energy. She has a wide experience in administrative infringement procedures and subsequent appeals in Spain and also appears in cases before the European Commission and the EU Courts. She stands out as well for her intervention in civil damages claims related to Competition Law infringements.
For Chambers 2018, “Paloma Martínez Lage has broad expertise in cartel investigations, merger control and state aid. Clients appreciate that she is “dedicated, hard-working and pays a lot of attention to detail.” In its 2017 edition, Chambers defined her as a “Fantastic lawyer”, emphasizing that “[she] is recognised for her experience in Brussels and hard-working approach. She has played a key part in some of the firm’s recent mandates, such as assisting clients with appeals against CNMC decisions and with cartel investigations”. Earlier editions said that “She is a very good lawyer. She has a very good knowledge, is hard-working, responsive and puts herself in clients’ shoes” (Chambers 2016).
Prior to joining the firm, Paloma worked as an in-house lawyer in the Corporate and Regulatory Affairs department of a mobile operator in Spain.
Paloma is a regular Competition Law lecturer in several postgraduate programmes, such as those of the Universidad CEU San Pablo, Universidad Carlos III and Club Español de la Energía. She has participated in collective works and published articles in journals specialised in the field of Competition Law.
